I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at US Postal Service (Portland, ME) in Aug 2015
Interview
I got an email with a date of the interview, and a number that i can call and reschedule if i couldn't make it that day. Called the number, and they told me they can't reschedule it, so I had to change my plans in order to go to the interview. When I got there I was expecting a lot of questions, but instead signed bunch of papers, and got a tour of the place. They tell you about the job, and ask you if you are willing to do these things, and hire you if you pass the drug test. p.s. My interview was with the postmaster.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at US Postal Service (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2013
Interview
There was no interview per se. It was basically an informational session on filling out a formal application to go into company records. The interview consisted of fingerprints, filling out documents. There is no screening of qualified candidates. As long as you have a pulse and are drug and felony free, you are hired.

And of course you take the exam admistred by a local college. The interview was last.
