I took first a written test that had three questions. After passing the test I had the typical UN format of the STAR method/competency based. Three protection colleagues interviewed me. They asked a few questions about direct experience and how I would conduct a protection assessment.

Interview
Panel of three people. Two of them will be from the department you are applying to, usually the head and a supervisor or associate. The third panelist will be from a different department.
Interview is competency-based. They may ask one technical question at most so read up and make sure you’re familiar with the substantive work of the department you apply for.
For competencies- refer to the job description. The required competencies are listed there and those are the competencies they will be testing you on. Prepare situational examples for each competency. They will ask about 3-4.

Phase 1 was a written test with 10 questions. Included were a several scenario questions testing your knowledge of practical protection interventions you would apply.
Phase 2 was an interview panel with 3 colleagues. HR, direct supervisor who is often the Protection officer and another Snr colleague within the office

If you had an asylum seeker call your work assigned cell phone asking for assistance, as they have been pushed back by border agents and not allowed to seek asylum. Based on the law, state the phases of your protection intervention.
