I was reached out to by a recruiter who then sent me a link to a coding challenge to complete. I completed the coding challenge within a couple of days and sent the project back to the recruiter. I was then matched with an engineer to do a phone screen, in which we talked about the coding challenge and about the company overall. I got to hear about the products they work on, the campus, and overall work culture.

Question 1
What was your design process for the coding challenge?
The process took 2 days. I interviewed at ThousandEyes (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2018
Interview
Got contacted by a recruiter. Scheduled a phone interview. Phone interview was some general work experience questions followed by a 5 minute programming exercise - check if 2 strings are anagrams of each other. Wrote the program and ran all the test cases and everything passed and the interviewer literally said "Yes, this is the most optimal way to solve the problem, recruiter will call you to schedule an onsite".
Then just silence. No response from recruiter - and I totally forgot that I interviewed here.
After almost a month I thought of checking what happened (just out of curiosity). Funnily enough, I got a response from the recruiter :-)
The response was that my solution for the anagram was bettered by other candidates who they are proceeding with. I can only hope they don't waste the other candidates time with their sub par recruiter.

Question 1
General discussion about work - check if 2 strings are anagrams of each other
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at ThousandEyes (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2018
Interview
Company was extremely friendly. Met with four interviewers for a range of algorithms and system design questions. Questions were modeled after actual problems an engineer might run into (as opposed to riddle like questions that are never used in practice).
It was clear they look for both technical aptitude and high EQ as everyone I met there was both smart and amiable. Seems like they have their priorities in order. I would have accepted the offer, but decided switching jobs was too much to handle with doing school part time.
