I don't know if this problem is common among companies but let me explain.
I cleared a screening call, then was put into a paired coding round. It was followed up with a technical interview and then a managerial/cultural fit discussion.
I had cleared all these and then was given a link to fill in the details to process the offer letter. But then I got a call the next day, saying that the job position was "put on hold".
Why? The explanation was they had filled a similar position for a different location, so this one is on hold.
I find this unprofessional because why open a position in the first place for candidates to apply for them? The whole process took about a month and the management decided at the last moment of processing the offer letter that the position was not necessary to be filled?
I know HR partners who don't respond and ghost you without giving a response but this was the weirdest way of rejection I've received.
