Thoughtworks interview questions

I don't know if this problem is common among companies but let me explain. I cleared a screening call, then was put into a paired coding round. It was followed up with a technical interview and then a managerial/cultural fit discussion. I had cleared all these and then was given a link to fill in the details to process the offer letter. But then I got a call the next day, saying that the job position was "put on hold". Why? The explanation was they had filled a similar position for a different location, so this one is on hold. I find this unprofessional because why open a position in the first place for candidates to apply for them? The whole process took about a month and the management decided at the last moment of processing the offer letter that the position was not necessary to be filled? I know HR partners who don't respond and ghost you without giving a response but this was the weirdest way of rejection I've received.

The interview process was well-organized and efficient. From the initial communication to the final round, each stage was conducted with professionalism and clarity. The interviewers were friendly and asked relevant questions that tested both technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities. Overall, it was a positive experience that reflected the company's commitment to finding the right candidate while also ensuring a respectful and engaging process.
