Interview
Once you have expressed interest in becoming a mentor, you attend some information sessions where you are trained to respond to certain situations in specific ways. After the orientation sessions, if you are really interested in continuing to become a mentor, you must go in for a series of personal questions and several forms. The YMCA will also conduct a background check to make sure you are capable.

Interview
I did training through the YMCA and became friends with the supervisor through training and came in for a formal interview upon getting my lifeguard certification. I also had to undergo CPR/ AED training, receive my swim instructor certification, and attend classes on blood pathogens and other medical issues that could happen in a pool area. Alos was required to attend a 2 hour inservice once a week.

There was a short answer and resume submission. There was a panel interview. Then I was taken out to eat for a second interview with the location that wanted to hire me.
