I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Laguna Niguel, CA) in Jul 2014
Interview
sat down with the site director in one of the classrooms. was asked about what kinds of experience i had had with children and child care, asked about my general disposition and attitude as you'd have to deal with parents on a daily basis, how i might handle an upset parent, what i should do if i need assistance, did i have medical training i.e. cpr and first aid.
Two people interviewed me. They asked a lot of hypothetical questions about how you would handle a kid in various scenarios. It was very relaxed. Be ready to explain why you want to work with children, your experience and how you handle stressful situations with children. They want to see that you can adapt and try new things to solve an issue.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA)
Interview
Very friendly and easy. The interviewers were very nice and informative. The job was not what I expected though. The interview process was pretty quick, I was hired within days of the initial interview. Overall, a good interview experience.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Asheville, NC) in Oct 2018
Interview
It was very quick, on the phone interview, and lasted about 15 minutes. Most of the phone call was regarding what the responsibilities are, and how a work day would be set up. After my interviewer finished giving the run down, she then asked me about 4 interview questions. They were all very simple.
