I applied in-person. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Woodbury, NJ) in Jun 2012
Interview
it was very laxed, i wore a grateful dead shirt (this was high school) i was asked a few questions about if i was serious and if i thought i could save someone and largely that was it. i was basically given the job because a family member was also a lifeguard
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
do you think you could act if someone was drowning, are you a good/ strong swimmer.
very good. good people there who work there and i like to work there because it is very fun being outside and talking with good people and free popsicles and the interviewer was nice and respectful and all oof that.
The interview process was overall easy. You just need to have your certifications, you need to pass a breathing test, and you need to pass a swim test. Pretty easy interview.
Swim test and basic questions. Very chill and conversational. Gave me introduction to their different systems and showed me how to change my hours and look for cover. I recommend wilting here!
