Interview process involved an automated video interview.
Next step was a phone interview- this went really well, and the interviewer confirmed that I met all qualifications and would be a good fit for the role. As he discussed next steps with moving forward in the interview process at the end of our call, he casually mentioned that corporate roles have very strict non-negotiable hours of working IN OFFICE from 9am-6pm, with no ongoing flexibility to work from home.
Not only does this feel completely outdated, as it’s 2022 and the majority of companies are moving in the opposite direction in terms of flexibility and remote work. But as a WORKING MOM I feel blatantly discriminated against. There’s NO way that those hours, with a commute, could be conducive to any working parent with the responsibility of caring for children and getting them to/from school during the week. I declined to move forward- the lack of progressiveness despite the past two years, as well as major “boys club” vibes were major red flags. It’s disappointing, as this mentality is no doubt closing the door to some great talent.
