I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Tesla (Brooklyn, NY) in Mar 2021
Interview
The interview process consisted of one phone screen and two in person interviews. The phone screen was more basic questions - why Tesla, what is your past experience, and providing insight into what the job would be.
The in person interviews were a bit more in depth and went through problem solving skills.
The Tesla interview process typically begins with an online application and resume review, followed by an initial recruiter screening to assess basic qualifications and cultural fit. Next, candidates undergo a technical screening, which may include coding challenges, problem-solving exercises, or discussions about past projects. If successful, candidates are invited for on-site or virtual interviews, consisting of multiple rounds with technical deep dives, team interviews, and behavioral assessments. Some roles may require a final interview with senior leadership. If selected, candidates receive a job offer, followed by background checks and onboarding. Throughout the process, Tesla emphasizes problem-solving ability, innovation, and alignment with its mission.

Interview
you need to meet with around 10 colleagues - a technical interview with a staff engineer or hiring manager, then a roundtable to meet with cross-function team members including the other hardware engineers, system engineers, or functional responsible that you'll be collaborating with, and then the senior manager or director or vp for final review.
