I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla (Palo Alto, CA) in Oct 2023
Interview
The interview was through a teams call. The interviewers did not share their screen and seemed uninterested. The main interviewer scolded the other two interviewers for not asking difficult questions. There were very few questions related to personal or professional fit. The questions were purely technical. The vibe was not great and I did not expect an offer.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Tesla (Palo Alto, CA) in Feb 2025
Interview
First, the recruiter contacted me after I was referred by someone at Tesla. The interview was with just one person — the lead engineer on the team. He had a Ph.D. from a top university and was an expert in modeling power inverters and their associated losses. He asked me about my prior experience as an intern at Tesla, particularly about modeling the electronic and magnetic components of power electronics systems. Since my background is primarily in thermal and mechanical aspects, my responses didn’t align well with what he was looking for, and I was ultimately rejected.
