I applied online and received an invitation to chat with the recruiter within 2 weeks of applying. The initial phone screen with the recruiter was pleasant enough, but felt very formulaic, like checking the boxes. He also mentioned the pay would be significantly lower than market value (and even other similar positions at Target) for this particular role. But he was nice and it went fine.
I then received an invitation for a technical screen with the hiring manager. The questions were all about my previous experience, starting with my most recent role. Basically what I did there, and some very basic questions on how I handled certain analyses and situations. This conversation was very nice, the hiring manager was an extremely nice person, I felt very at ease .
I received a phone call one week later from the recruiter who genuinely seemed to regret having to inform me that they would not be moving forward with me for that role, but that both he and the hiring manager would love to see me apply to other roles at Target. I can't tell if that last bit was just a nicety, but they really were nice people and I had the feeling it was more of a not-quite-the-right-fit rejection than a personality rejection. I would definitely apply to other roles at Target again. Very good interview process & responsiveness.
