I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Target (Hilo, HI) in Dec 2013
Interview
There were two interviews, and a job shadow. The first interview I met with a manager, the next was with the head of all of the Targets in the state. The job shadow took place between the two interviews. The process took around 3 weeks to finish. When I had the shadow, all of the HR people were surprised because they said they've never seen an intern do a shadow before they were hired. They all said that I was almost guaranteed the internship, as long as my last interview went well. I thought it did but I did not receive the internship. I still wonder about why I didn't receive it, I felt perfect for the job. Be prepared for very general questions in the form of "tell me about a time when..." Before my interview, I wrote down a ton of situations I have been through that may come up in the form of a question, just so that I would have an idea on hand. It is difficult to come up with an answer to questions like these when you are not prepared because you try to search through your entire past in your head while the interviewer is just staring at you waiting to hear what you have to say. So my best advice would be to be prepared to answer many situational questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe a time when you had to solve a problem in a group setting.
Skill based questions. STAR model approach, emphasizing leadership skills and teamwork. Case question was challenging as there was not enough time. A few interviews were conducted in one hour and coordinated by different recruiters.

Question 1
Case Question - how did you meet a deadline when one of your team members was pulling her/his share of work.
Second round interview at distribution center. Took a tour of the facility, presentation to learn more about target and then two or three 30 minute interviews. Great company, great learning experience.
