I applied through college or university. I interviewed at SpaceX
Interview
I went through 3 interviews: (1) recruiter, (2) manager, (3) member of the technical team with the opening. The recruiter interview was largely informational to get more details on the openings and the specialties at each site. The manager interview focused on culture fit, with the questions centering around how I addressed challenges and perceived progress. The final interview was with a technical member of the team with the opening. It included some basic mechanical engineering test questions (kinematics, fluids, prototyping). The interviewer talked me through some parts when I got stuck or started heading in the wrong direction and allowed me to correct my answers. They also asked about my previous experience and work style.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at SpaceX in Nov 2018
Interview
First "interview": chatted with the recruiter on the phone for 15 minutes. Asked mostly logistical questions about availability, GPA, and ACT score. The recruiter left SpaceX shortly after the interview so the process went no further.
