I applied online. I interviewed at SpaceX in Jul 2021
Interview
Set up the date and time for the interview - they never called. I wasted time preparing for nothing. I e-mailed and called the recruited, but they never replied. Left me extremely frustrated and with a sour taste in my mouth.
Was reached out by a recruiter then had two follow up interviews that were more technical with an engineer then the hiring boss, the final interview was a presentation, process is quick and interviews are within 2 days of each other

Question 1
Describe the design differences found in making a stiff structure and a structure where the primary design goal is strength
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at SpaceX (Brownsville, TX) in Mar 2022
Interview
Applied and about 2 weeks in a recruiter contacted me for a preliminary call, technical questions asked by the recruiter.
1) what type of beam would you chose to carry a load and why?
2) what material would you make this beam ?
3) For a flagpost with a vertical load, what failure mode would you expect?
4) what is the minimum information that you need to determine the failure point?
After the interview with the recruiter, I was scheduled with a manager for a technical interview

Question 1
Interview with the manager
1) For a beam that is attached to the wall on the two end where would you expect the failure mode to occur?
2) what if you had rollers instead being fixed to the wall, would the failure mode change?
3) what are the three modes of heat transfer?
4) Which of the three heat transfer is the most effective?
5) can you describe an application where radiation would be the most effective?
6) how are beams manufactured?
7) if you had a bolt you had to set the torque spec for what information would you need?
8) what is the relation between stress and strain?
9) can you describe the behavior of stress vs strain?
