I applied online. I interviewed at Sephora in Aug 2014
Interview
I had applied twice to sephora. Once at a job fair and online. The job fair was an hour away but I really wanted the job so I did not mind. When I got there it was not anything like it was described to me. These were interviews. I had not fully prepared for an interview in the way that I like (i.e. researching company history) but I did know what I would say for standard interview questions so I wasn’t too nervous. The first woman that I talked to was lovely and we hit it off. So well that I ended up giving her a link to a video that came up in conversation about a technique. However, half way through the interview the other two woman in the room were finished with their interviews and stepped into mine. Rather then reading or listening to my interviewer they interjected and dismissed what she had to say. They asked me questions about my previous job experience and the things I did outside of work. Eventually one of the newer woman stopped the interview and explained how I should apply in the fall for a seasonal position since I had moved recently ( 2 months prior) and I should settle in. I explained that I was already moved in and was ready, and she said that I wouldn’t be able to understand the P.O.S. system at Sephora (my prior job has the same one). It became clear from the remarks that they wanted to find an excuse not to hire me so I took the no, said thank you for the opportunity, and left.
A couple months later I applied online. I had a grabbed a job in between the wait and figured apply for a seasonal position to get my foot in the door. I received a phone call about a week later. We had a pretty standard phone interview. There was a problem with my application because they had not seen my updated information on my availability from the last application. They were accommodating to my school schedule. But when my current job came up there was a problem. I explained that I work on the weekends, but that can change to accommodate. She explained to me that, “We do not accommodate our schedule to other jobs schedules.” I attempted to explain that my other job would be adjusting to theirs. But It was too late because she said “Goodbye and thank you for your time” before hanging up on me. I ended up calling back to explain myself and she said she would call back next week to schedule an interview. She had not called back.
I think as a consumer, Sephora is a professional and great. This branch however, was not. It was good that I had that experience because I know that I can handle the situation.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Sephora
Interview
it was very easy, and manager was friendly, easy questions, dress for impress and have make up on... girls we are applying to a make up place! not a computer shop.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sephora (Mississauga, ON) in Nov 2014
Interview
Was called for a brief phone interview and later was invited for a group interview. I got there and there were other girls waiting for the interview. Once we got inside, we were introduced to one another and the 2 leads asked us various questions, such as details about ourselves and a fun fact. Then we got into other questions such as "Have you had conflict with other co-workers?" "What frustrates you about the retail industry?" and more. They told us they would call us within a week after contacting our references but it has been a month.
