However, the process became affected by internal misalignment between recruiting, HR, and hiring leadership. From the beginning I was transparent about a timing constraint related to a mortgage closing, and I worked to accelerate it on my side. In parallel, the compensation discussion initially seemed to refer to total annual compensation, but after reviewing the formal offer, the real increase was meaningfully lower due to differences in benefits. Overall, the opportunity looked strong, but the process lacked alignment on timing and compensation expectations.
