I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sage (Newcastle upon Tyne, England)
Interview
I had a really good experience interviewing with Sage, even though I didn’t get the role in the end.
The process started with a chat with one of their talent acquisition team, which was a great way to get a feel for the company and the role. That part was straightforward and always appreciated.
The next stage was an interview with the Engineering Manager and the Director of Engineering. They were both really approachable and made me feel comfortable straight away. The questions were pre-prepared and focused on my skills and experience. It was a proper two-way conversation, and they were happy to share their own experiences and explain what the role would involve.
Even though it ended in a rejection, the feedback I got was detailed and constructive, which is rare and something I really appreciated. It’ll definitely help me going forward. While I personally think I could’ve grown into the role, they obviously felt I wasn’t the right fit this time, and that’s fair enough.
Overall, it was a positive experience. They were professional, respectful, and open throughout the process, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sage as a company to interview with.
Interview request was sent via email, given a fixed amount of time (around one week) to submit self-recorded responses using computer or phone camera. Questions are general / introductory and are made to establish a friendly rapport between you and Sage.
