      Field Engineer Interview

      Nov 2, 2009
      Anonymous employee
      Edmonton, AB
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 3 days. I interviewed at SLB (Edmonton, AB) in Nov 2007

      Interview

Applied in March of 07, didn't hear anything until October, and was given 1 business day notice of interview. A lot of situational questions, more just a conversation steered in the direction that the interviewer wanted to go. All interviewers are ex engineers, very helpful and knowledgeable. 4 days later I was flown across the country, meals out, see the actual operations at 3 field sites over 2 days, and a formal interview at the end of it. There was about 20 of us there. One thing, is although they were very upfront about how much you would be working and that you would be spending tons of time away from home, is that they really pushed the work hard/play hard mantra, and 2 years later it really turns out to be only a work hard mantra. The benefits where given a rosy spin, and are a lot less common or frequent than I was led to believe.

      Question 1

Just situational questions, tell me about hobbies and activities which would be similar to this job, what do you do in your spare time, why do you want to be a field engineer, tell me what you expect from this position.

      Application

      I interviewed at SLB (Mumbai)

      Interview

It was an on campus hiring. First they shortlisted based on CV. Then second round was group discussion where we were given abstract topics like "Half filled glass of water" and were asked to discuss. This was also an eliminatory round. The final round was more of a HR round, they asked behavioural questions, few puzzles (very easy) and general knowledge questions

You have a candle, a lamp and you have to light both, which will you light first?
