I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Robert Half (New York, NY) in Aug 2019
Interview
Robert Half will always be the one to reach out to you for a position and tell you you are a good fit. They'll reach out to you through LinkedIn or email you. They'll be very responsive in the beginning leading up to the phone interview or in person interview. They will butter you up.
Once you get to the phone interview stage or in person interview, they will ask you standard interview questions. They'll tell you they will follow up afterwards or they'll tell you to let them know if you're still interested.
What I did and what most people I know did was send a standard follow up email after the phone or in person interview to see how it went and to see if you move forward. Out of 5 people, who I talked to who also interviewed through or for Robert Half, we all never heard anything. Not an email. Not a text. Not a phone call. No feedback. No message on LinkedIn.
You might hear back six months later from a recruiter about a different position to see if you're interested but do you really want to take PTO for an interview with a company that ghosted you the first time?
There is no courtesy whatsoever as far as communication. You are just a number. Think of it this way...if they treat you like this during the honeymoon stage think about how it will be once you're committed. The company has really high turnover for a reason. I didn't think about it that much when I interviewed but now I understand that one of the main issues is communication.
What attracted me to the company was how they seemed like a reputable company that's been around for years and seems to know what they're doing in the industry. The company also pays really well if you work directly for them.
But after hearing of others' encounters with Robert Half and after my own experiences, I highly advise you not to waste your time. You are more valuable than being a tally for their count.
I hope this will save a lot of you some time and troubles.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Robert Half in Jun 2019
Interview
I was called in for an interview, met with the VP and then his office manager. Overall the interview took about an hour. They then invited me to come in and observe the staff to get a feel for the job. I was again there for about an hour. A week later I was called in to meet with the district manager. After I met with the district manager and then again with the VP they asked me what my salary expectations were, said they could meet them, asked about upcoming vacations which I had one in two weeks and was told they wouldn't offer it to me until I got back. That was the last time I heard from them, I consistently followed up with them receiving no response. After I got back from vacation I once again reached out to them only to be told they gave the job to someone else. Not even telling me until I reached out. I was passionate about the job and declined other lesser jobs because of the positive feedback I got throughout the interview process with robert half. Over all I'm disappointed in the lack of communication from them on their end and I hope they treat their candidates with more care than they did me.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Robert Half (Boston, MA)
Interview
Itâs strange because I normally have had good experiences working with Robert Half in the past but this time around was a bit different. I got introduced to a friendly recruiter on the legal department who met with me for coffee to âdiscuss the jobs she hadâ. In reality when I spoke with her, she convinced me to interview at Robert Half instead and we didnât discuss any other jobs at that time. I went in the next day for two interviews, not with the people I was expected to meet with. The interview went OK - they didnât really ask any deep questions and I felt that they were not trying to get to know me but was merely talking about my experience. After all this, I was assured I would hear back within the next week. I reached out to my original recruiter who never responded. I then followed up a couple days later with the two people who interviewed me, only one answered. I got an email first thing that following Monday morning with an extremely short email letting me know they werenât moving forward. I never heard back from my original recruiter. During this time, I was also speaking with another recruiter on their office team who I went above and beyond to get in touch with and she assured me she had plenty of jobs that would be a good fit and she would reach back out shortly. I never heard back from her, even after I followed up with a friendly email. Needless to say, I wonât be working with them in the future and I dodged a bullet.
