A remarkably bad interview process considering that recruitment is core to their business. The process was poorly organized, had sloppy communication and wasted time. They allocated so much time to interviews that some ended early because everything had been covered. I experienced one member of the team rattle off question after question to me from a sheet without any effort to dive deeper into interesting subject matter. Please prioritise quality over quantity! I also spent one of my 1:1s essentially listening to a monologue. Perhaps the most revealing part of the interview process was when I was asked my thoughts on their interview process. When I hinted that it was too lengthy, my feedback was brushed off with a dismissive comment about how they’re trying to be rigorous.
In my experience, a company’s interview process is a good reflection of what that company is like to work for on a daily basis. I suspect that Robert Half is disorganized, lacks respect for its employees, and struggles to challenge the status quo.
Finally, Robert Half would be well-advised not to give conflicting information to candidates about when they can expect to hear back and then blow past all of those conflicting timelines without reaching out to provide updates. Transparency and common courtesy would be great!
