I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at River Island (Cork) in Aug 2016
Interview
It was a 1:1 interview. Initially I thought the interview went very well. The manager was very friendly and seemed to be impressed but appearances can be deceptive. Very disappointed that I didn't get the job in the end as I thought I did very well and I have had previous experience in retail. No feedback on why I didn't get the job either.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at River Island (Hull, England) in Jul 2016
Interview
I applied for the job online and received an email back within the following week to ask me to attend a recruitment event. So i booked my place and time that suited me. I arrived on the day, was asked to wait outside the store. It was a group interview so six other girls were also waiting. A member of staff checked our availability and looked at our proof of identity before we were shown into a meeting room. Going round the table we were asked to introduce ourselves a little and give an example of excellent customer service that we have provided or received.
We were then split into small groups of two to do some role play. One person would be the customer, the other would be working at the store. We had to think of different situations and how we would approach them. Whilst we did this, the managers were sat listening and taking notes.
The whole process was very easy, managers made you feel welcome and were friendly. The event was meant to take an hour but only lasted about 20 to 30 minutes. Got told we would know by the end of the week if our application was successful. I heard back a week later by email to say it was unsuccessful.

Question 1
Give an example of when you have provided or received excellent customer service
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at River Island (King's Lynn, England) in Aug 2016
Interview
The interview was nice and relaxed. There was a large group of us, and the staff members were friendly and welcoming. The group interview (or recruitment event) allowed us to communicate and get to know each other. We all felt comfortable after a couple of minutes and the tasks we were asked to do were enjoyable after being welcomed so nicely.
Now what I didn't like, was that I was the only 20 year old (or adult, initially) there. Everyone else was just about to start college having just left school. I immediately got the impression I was the oldest there, and that they were looking to hire someone younger than I. They obviously wanted to employ someone they can pay a lower minimum wage to. - this made me angry, I'm used to being rejected, but I felt left out and a complete waste of time. I was just there for a diverse age range of people (even though that was hardly achieved).
