1. Quick and easy online application process, notified within a short amount of time that I had been successful. 2. Book in to a recruitment evening. (Mine was 6pm and lasted 2 hours) The recruitment event was basically a group interview with around 25 of us all in one room at the back of the shop. We were in this room for approximately 1hour - 1hour 15mins. The other 45minutes - 1hour we spent on the shop floor. In the room we were sat in groups of 3/4 around many small tables. It was cramped and a little stuffy. There was a cube which was threw around the room and when you caught it you stood up and introduced yourself giving your name, what you are currently studying etc and an interesting fact. Everyone got a turn at this. Afterwards, we spoke within our groups about what River Island has to offer different types of customers and why they would shop there etc. The tables took turn to present there ideas to the room. We then started at one side of the room and everyone gave an animal which they would be/that is most similar to themself and a reason why. (TIP: Have about 3 different animals in mind each with a couple of reasons because you don't want to be repeating others) Finally, each table was given a card with a celebrity on it and a budget. We all had 5minutes to run to round the shop floor to find an outfit for said celebrity which we then had to present. Everyone chose an outfit and presented individually. The presentations took place on the shop floor in an open area (the shoes & bags section) (TIP: Try to upsale and spend as close to the budget as possible, if someone's budget is £250 as a company they want to get as much money out of each customer as possible so don't choose a whole outfit for just £100. Ways to do this could be to pick a couple pairs of shoes and 2 different jackets/coats for an alternative option depending on day to night etc) After this, we all went back to the room to fill in an availability sheet and collect our things. (We were never asked for identification documents even though we were told to bring them.) Our bags were checked on the way out and we left. It was less than a week (2/3 days) when I received a call letting me know my availability wasn't what they were looking for at this time, but they liked my 'interview' and wanted to set me on over the Christmas period.

The whole interview process was very easy and clam, the questions asked were general questions which didn’t make you feel uneasy. The whole interview process was quick and easy !
