The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at River Island (Londres, Inglaterra)
Interview
The first part of the application was online. This took around 30-40 minutes to do and I found the job on indeed.co.uk. After I sent it off I got an email around 2 weeks later saying that I had been successful in the first part of the application process and now I had to book myself into a recruitment event to be interviewed and assessed. My interview was at the store around 5:00. Firstly we sat in a circle (there was around 5 of us) and we had to do an ice breaker first of all. They asked us our name and our interests and if we had any pets. (Make sure you speak loudly and proudly on this part as they are looking for confidence and enthusiasm) I told them my age, where I'm from, the college I go to and what I study and which subject I like best. I also told them a little bit about what I do in my spare time which is photography. After that we talked amongst ourselves and had to tell each other why we want to work at river island. They then asked us to feed back and when they asked who wanted to go first I jumped in straight away (show keen enthusiasm all the time) and keep eye contact and smile at them. Then they asked us if we could all work Boxing Day, Christmas Eve, New Years and discussed when we could work through the week too. After this we split into a group of 3 and 2 and had to go and pick an outfit for a certain occasion we had to pick a going out on the town dress for a woman who is 27 and then explain why we chose it. I really liked that part. Then after that the interview was over, some people asked a few questions but that was all and it took about an hour. They told we would hear in the next couple of days how we did and if we were successful we would get a phone call and if not we would get an email
The next day I got a call from them:)
I applied online. I interviewed at River Island in Jun 2026
Interview
My interview was done online with an ai bot who asks you questions. I answered them but I don’t think the questions are the same for everyone. But I did my best and in my opinion interviews online is better than face to face.
I applied through other source. I interviewed at River Island (Enfield, England) in Mar 2026
Interview
applied for job on indeed then emailed and text a link to AI Chatbot interview. Asked if I have right to work, would I be available for x hours across x days, why I want to work at River Island, how would you handle a situation where customer is upset, rank a few tasks based on importance and then went onto video interview. Was asked what my favourite river island piece of clothing is and how I would sell it to a customer, what do I think typical tasks of a sales advisor role are, what does excellent customer service look like and give example, what makes a successful team.

The interview was genuinely relaxed and welcoming from the moment I walked in. I felt at ease right away, on comfortable terms with the interviewer, and able to speak openly and naturally without any pressure.
