I recently went through an interview process with Red Hat and wanted to share some observations.
The TA interaction felt transactional. Some questions focused on my job search outcomes, such as why I had not received offers after multiple interviews, which did not feel directly related to evaluating my fit for the role.
There was also a strong push to schedule interviews within a very short timeframe. When I requested additional time to accommodate my schedule, I was informed that the process would move forward without me and that I might be re-invited if a suitable candidate was not found. This approach felt inflexible from a candidate experience perspective.
During the interview, the interviewer appeared distracted, frequently typing on her screen and showing limited engagement, which made the conversation feel less focused. There were also discussions around topics that were not clearly aligned with the role’s responsibilities, including questions related to my layoff and whether my entire department was affected.
After completing the first interview with the hiring manager, I did not receive any follow-up communication or updates.
Overall, while Red Hat is well known in the industry, the interview experience did not feel as structured or candidate-focused as expected.
