I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Qualcomm (San Diego, CA) in Apr 2008
Interview
I was first conntacted by email by HR to inform me I will be interviewed by phone by the Hiring Manager.
Phone interview went very well. I realized there was good connection.
Next day I receiver an email from HR asking me availability for an on-site interview
I did interview on site with the hiring manager, two colegues, four directors and a manager
All interviews went very well except for one
I did think I was overqualified for the position which I did corroborate once I did take job
The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Qualcomm (San Diego, CA) in Oct 2010
Interview
An Indian guy called me on the phone. Asked me two questions about my resume and then two communications questions. Then he started math puzzles, he seemed extremely interested in math puzzles, after two math puzzles, he just wanted to continued with more math puzzles. I had to interrupt to ask him to give some more details about this job position. He was CLEARLY IRRITATED at my request (that he should ask job specific questions) and DISCONTINUED the interview. I subsequently got a normal REJECTION notice from Qualcomm HR.
I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Qualcomm (San Diego, CA) in Feb 2010
Interview
I was first called to interview by an employer to work in his group. They were mostly looking to use the internship to hire potential full time employees. They are otherwise unlikely to hire interns. If you are a PhD student, or perhaps not in your pre-final year of college, the best go is to apply for research and show that you have research credentials. Software expertise seems to be a requirement these days.
