Pernod Ricard Manager interview questions

Unprofessional hiring process. I met company hr director in Italy (Milan). She didn't read my resume before the meeting so she started asking questions without any sense. The main issue is that after the interview she decided to call my employer for references without warning me. You can immagine the situation when my boss asked me: I know that you're looking for a new job? why? etc. I immediatly called the hr manager to ask for clarification and she told me that this is their hiring process (I have doubts about this).
