I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman (Rolling Meadows, IL) in Jan 2015
Interview
Applied online after meeting someone that worked there. Received an email 2 months later to schedule an interview which took place 2 weeks later. I was scheduled to meet with several different people and was told to set 3 hours aside for the interviews. I first met with two hiring managers that were not on my original schedule because they said that the people that I was going to be interviewed by were busy.
After speaking with them for about an hour about my previous experience and discussing more about the program, they said that the people that were after them were running a few minutes late. I waited in the conference room for about 15 minutes before someone came in and told me that the interviewers couldn't be found and they needed the conference room. I emailed the recruiter when I got out of there, and 2 days later received an automated message saying that they had decided to pursue other candidates.
I just wish they hadn't wasted my time.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman (San Diego, CA) in Jun 2015
Interview
One hiring manager interviewed me along with 3 project managers. They were all friendly and mostly wanted to find out what projects is a better match for my skills. There were an equal number of behavioral and technical questions. The whole interview process took almost an hour. They want you to code on the white board and explain your thoughts to them which I did, and they seemed satisfied with it.
