I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman in Apr 2015
Interview
It was a phone interview with multiple people asking questions about my interests, experience, projects, etc. They were very friendly. No technical questions were asked in the first two phone interviews. They told me there were a few other candidates being considered.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Asked about background and previous projects worked on.
I applied in-person. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman (El Segundo, CA) in Aug 2013
Interview
The interview was a panel interview, with Site, Division and Sector Quality and Operations Management people involved (a total of 3 people). The interview was held in an Operations conference room, not far from the working floor. It was somewhat informal, and personal, and seemed more like a conversation among quality professionals than a board of inquiry. It was enjoyable, much like people discussing their favorite subjects.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
I was asked about the differences between "Big Q" and "Little q", and how I would ensure all hands above the folly and on the floor would understand the "quality" component of their jobs.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman
Interview
I was interviewed by two people. I basically talked about the experiences on my resume. I got a call about an offer, but they low-balled me about $20K lower than my current salary. Other companies were able to offer me about $10K to $15K more than my current salary. I kindly declined the offer. I suggest salary increases for potential employees. Software engineers in this area are highly sought after and other companies will most likely offer higher salaries.
