I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman (Los Angeles, CA) in Oct 2014
Interview
The interviewers were at a career fair and went around asking specifically for freshmen. They interviewed on campus; they were very friendly and first asked about my experience with computer science. Since I knew mainly Java at the time, they asked me some simple coding questions on that. However, I made some mistakes on simple topics, so that hurt my chances. At the end, they finished up by talking about each of the points on my resume, which felt like a mix of technical and behavioral.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked to rotate the letters of a string so that each letter was shifted down the alphabet by a certain number, which might have been 13. E.g. The string abc would be shifted to opq.
There was a short video call with a hiring manager. They were very friendly, mostly walked through your resume, asked you some behavioral based questions, and asked about you (hobbies, school, etc).
Amazing process, smooth and recruiter scheduled them very well. Definitely have your resume known inside and out. The technicals were medium difficulty, Be as well spoken as you can, iterate your points clearly.
