      Multi-Disciplined Engineer Interview

      Mar 23, 2009
      Anonymous employee
      Rolling Meadows, IL
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman (Rolling Meadows, IL) in May 2008

      Interview

I was initially contacted by a hiring manager. This person informed me that the company wanted me to come in for an interview and set me up with the travel coordinator. The travel coordinator organized a mutual beneficial date of travel for the interview. However, the travel coordinator did not ask for any preferences on times of travel, airline, or hotel. The travel arrangements were to fly out the night before, a few hours of interviews the next morning, and fly out the next afternoon. I would have appreciated as much extra time as possible to get to see the surroundings to figure out if I would actually want to move there or not. There were four interviews, each a half hour. Lunch was supposed to be included, but each of my interviews ran long and the interviewer that was supposed to take me to lunch did not appear to know that they were supposed to. Only one of the interviewers would be in my chain of command. The others were managers in the company. Two were clearly disengaged and showed no interest in the interview and the third was rather stoic. All of the interviewers had very bland, rudimentary, and typical interview questions. It felt like Groundhogs Day answering the same interview questions four times over. It seemed that none of the interviewers knew each other and were located throughout the building. This meant that it took up to 10 minutes to be ushered from one interviewer to another (more frequent then not involving getting lost). This added to the disorganized and institutionalized feel of the company.
