the whole process of applying and getting the job took about a month. I was fortunate to have gotten an interview from an employee referral who worked on the unit and the nurse manager told me to apply online. A week later I got a phone call from talent acquisition for a brief phone interview, very basic questions regarding why NYP, why nursing, and going over the interview process and whether the shift was day or night, every other weekend, etc. Then they scheduled me to meet with someone from HR and the questions were very basic, many behavioral, be sure to have some examples in mind so you are not off guard and elaborate your examples, always showcase that you put the patient and their families first! Then right afterwards the HR manager asked me go meet with the nurse manager and I had a second interview with the nurse manager and assistant nurse manager of the floor. Afterwards I was given a tour of the unit and met with 2 of the floor nurses on the unit, kind of like an unofficial interview to see if I clicked with the other nurses on the unit. After all that I got an offer one week later, but it was dependent on whether you pass the written medication exam so that took another week to finally finalize whether I got the job or not. It was a long process, but it was positive, people were very nice.
