I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (New York, NY) in Sep 2018
Interview
I received a call to verify my interest and was scheduled for a screening phone interview with HR 2 weeks later. Generic questions. My in person happened about 3 weeks after that. Very receptive interviewers and a healthy conversation. It took about 1 month for them to request references and another month before the offer was made to start a month later. Very long process between initial contact and actual start.
I applied online. I interviewed at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (New York, NY) in Jan 2023
Interview
The zoom interview process was the shortest and the most unprofessional I have experienced. Without any introduction I was asked to introduce myself, right after my introduction I was asked about my RC experience (I explained the project I worked on for RC) . There was uncomfortable silence and when I asked questions that's when I found information which was relevant but not emphasized on the job posting . The feeling I was left with was awful. What a waste of 15minutes but great experience about what type of leadership and culture that role is in.
The in-person interview took 4 hours long chatting with different team members/doctors/supervisor in 30-minute blocks plus a written test about how you would respond to a hypothetical conflict situation. It was exhausting having to repeat my background/interest in each 30-minute block, but everyone was super friendly, casual, interested in hearing about my experience. They never bothered to tell me I didn't get the job, I only found out about 1 month later by logging into my candidate profile to see my application status updated. An email would have been nice after making me give up half a work day to come in.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
A lot of hypothetical scenarios and how would you react/respond/remedy the situation. Can you handle pressure, multi-task, be a go-getter, handle difficult personalities, competing priorities. Why NYP, where do you see yourself in 5 years, what is your supervisee style.
