I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (New York, NY) in Aug 2016
Interview
First, you will be interviewed by Talent Acquisition. Here, they ask you the most basic interview questions you could imagine. Secondly, you will be interviewed by your unit's PCD (Patient Care Director). In my case, I was also interviewed by a Clinical Manager, followed by several on the nurses that were on that day. Here, I was asked unit-specific questions that were more medically oriented. Then, I was taken for a tour of the unit. I heard back from talent acquisition a few hours later on the same day. Talent Acquisition is extremely organized.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Talent acquisition asked questions such as "Give a specific example of a time when...." and "What would you do in BLANK situation?" type of questions-- your basic interview. Would recommend the Johns Hopkins guide to interview questions (Google it) if you're a new RN.
The PCD asked questions such as the nurse/patient ratio of my previous unit. She asked what committees I was involved in on my previous unit (they are big on committees at NYP). She asked to give specific examples of times on my old unit where I made a big difference in a patient's care. She then asked if I was "OK" with working nights--the obvious answer to this is YES, as we all must start on nights at some point!
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital
Interview
I did one interview with HR followed by PCD through zoom. The interview did not last more than 30 minutes to an hour altogether. Overall, the interview process was laidback.
I had a phone interview first with the talent acquisition recruiter. Once I passed that, I had a virtual zoom interview with the Manager. All questions typically common for registered nurse questions.
I interviewed at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (Zoomvliet)
Interview
Quick zoom interview, It was with 3 people, Two from HR and a Nurse director of the unit. They asked the basic questions. It was a quick 15 minutes and did not seem like they were interested to begin with,
