I applied through an employee referral back in September 2016. After the interview I did not hear anything back until November from a recruiter that instructed me to apply for the position via their website through the NYP website. The recruiter also told me he would contact me after. Long story short, never heard back from anyone. Judging from the other reviews I understand that NYP's recruiting process is vague and long.
