I applied through college or university. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at NVIDIA (Pune) in Jul 2014
Interview
Nvidia came on campus. Allowed candidates having >70%. There were 150 candidates. Conducted a test which was not easy. Quantitative Aptitude, OS, DS, C language - these were the 4 sections. Shortlisted 14 candidates for interviews and asked to visit the office next day. There were 2 tech interviews followed by an HR interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1. Tree problem. Maximize the sum of set of elements from the tree such that if some node exists in the set, then its parent and children must not exist in the set.
2. Tell me some example of problem statement you have liked so far. How did you solve it.
3. Bit manipulation question (swapping lower 4 bit with higher 4 per byte of an integer)
4. Stack using linked list
5. OS related questions. Basic. Know the name of chapters from text book and general idea of that name, definition. Not mandatory to know details, or even you can say you don't know.
6. Why Nvidia?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at NVIDIA (New York, NY) in Feb 2015
Interview
Excellent all the way through - great office, nice people. I enjoyed the water provided - very refreshing indeed. The staff were particularly nice and the interior design inspired some vibrant conversation.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at NVIDIA (Ahmedabad) in Aug 2017
Interview
Written test was followed by an interview. Basic electronics, VLSI and Digital electronics questions were asked.
The panel was of three people:
Mr. M (Director)
Mr. P (HR)
Mr. B (Manager)
Of these, M and P sat in one room (let's call it room-1) and interviewed half of the students while B (room-2) was in another room and interviewed the remaining half. The duration of interview in both the rooms was almost same, ranging from 35 to 40 minutes. After the interview, candidates had to wait in another room, which did not let the remaining candidates interact with them. The pattern of questions was, however, quite different, which is described below.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Q: You have two diodes, how do you design AND & OR gate using those?
- What do you understand by fan-out? * (Discussion of fan-out went on for at least 15-20 minutes. The questions that followed were based on the replies that I gave. It's quite similar to a viva you see!)
- On what parameters does fan-out depend? Does it only depend on current?
- Can you relate fan-out with input impedance/ capacitance?
- Do you choose FET over BJT for the reason that it has higher input impedance or on basis of some other parameter and input impedance of FET just happens to be high?
- Does fan-out depend on frequency?
- If frequency is kept same and the input capacitance is varied, what effect would you see on the circuit?
