I interviewed at NBCUniversal (Stamford, CT) in Jul 2018
Interview
I first completed the initial video interview which consisted of 9 basic interview questions. The next day I was called to interview at the show's offices in Stamford, CT. I talked to a producer, as well as the executive producer. The structure of the interview seemed to be picking the position that would best fit me, and I walked away feeling rather confident. I was told to send a follow up email with some additional information, and that I would hear back within a week to a week and a half. I sent my follow up email and waited, but never heard back. I followed up several more times and never even received a response. Meanwhile the job was reposted several times after my interview. I was able to assume I hadn't gotten the position 3 weeks after my interview, when the day the job was supposed to begin came and passed and I still hadn't received a response.
I would understand if I didn't hear back after initially applying, or even after the first digital interview. However, after taking my time to go to Stamford to speak to the producers, I find it incredibly unprofessional that I couldn't even get a response to my several follow-up emails. It was an extremely disappointing experience with a company I have idolized for years.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at NBCUniversal in Jun 2026
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter and we scheduled an interview that lasted about 30 minutes. The recruiter walked me through the role in detail, including compensation, and asked standard questions like "tell me about yourself." Overall the conversation itself was smooth and informative. He was clear about next steps, who I'd be speaking with after this round, and gave me a timeframe for when I'd hear back.
Unfortunately, that timeline didn't hold. I didn't hear anything by the date given, so I followed up twice, with weeks of silence in between each attempt. On my third follow up, I finally got a response, but it was vague ("still in process," no real update), and at that point I could tell where things were headed. About three weeks later, I received a rejection email.
The initial interview was professional and well organized, but the post-interview communication left a lot to be desired. If you're going through their process, be prepared to advocate for yourself and follow up. Don't expect proactive updates.

Friendly, warm and professional. HR took the call and it was a great first step to the interview process. It was extremely easy to coordinate ahead of time and got quick responses.
