I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at NBCUniversal (New York, NY) in Aug 2011
Interview
I mailed my cover letter and resume in early to mid July. Then, the hiring manager called me in the second week of August to schedule a phone interview. During the interview, she didn't ask many behavioral questions, but asked more about why I was interested in the position and how familiar I was with the Today Show. I'd say if you're able to communicate your passion for the Today Show or at least a general knowledge of the format of the show, the interview will go fine. I received an offer basically as soon as the interview ended.
It starts with a video interview that you have to complete in 5 days, followed by a scheduled second call with recruiter, than the offer follows if you make it through.
After completing the first interview on the software where you record yourself answering questions, I did a phone call interview with a producer. I received an offer a few days later.

Invited for interview with an editor, given an editing test, and one more interview after that. I did not end up getting an offer, but the process was not negative at all.
