The WORST recruiting experience of my life.
I have dual citizenship. I am a born and raised Swedish citizen, but I also have Iranian citizenship.
I applied for the “Account Development Representative” position based in Sweden.
I went through the whole recruiting process, and I was offered the job. I was added by the team and the managers on LinkedIn. Everyone in the team congratulated me and welcomed me with open arms.
But three weeks after the offer, when I had already begun preparing for the job and turned down opportunities at other companies, I was informed that the offer had been rescinded since I am an Iranian citizen.
This is discrimination based on citizenship. MuleSoft/Salesforce is a company whose core values are “Trust” and “Equality”, and yet they discriminated me because I hold an Iranian citizenship. The law does not prevent MuleSoft/Salesforce from hiring me, because I have always been a Swedish citizen.
The recruiter and the managers who had been so warm and welcoming at first became cold and unavailable as soon as they found out about my Iranian citizenship.
Finding a good job as a graduate in the middle of a pandemic has been difficult as it is, the last thing I needed was for MuleSoft/Salesforce to waste my time and energy for over two months.
This is the worst that I have ever been treated by a company.
