Question 1
- Coding: just practice list of Meta questions on Leetcode
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Meta (Menlo Park, CA) in Sep 2023
Interview
1 Screening interview
6 Full-loop interviews including coding, basic ml, 2 research oriented, behavioral, research presentation.
After the screening, you will get noticed to conduct the full-loop interviews. For coding, you don't have to worry about leetcode-type question - it is more related to your research based coding questions. For research oriented question, interviewers may ask challenging questions regarding the research topic that you have been studied.
For research presentation - you will have to prepare for 50min presentation regarding your research during your phd years.
The interview questions literally had nothing to do with the job. They were expecting you to know very rare coding skills that you may need to deal with seldom if you ever need to

Question 1
they were asking about coding optimization although I applied for a research scientist position, not a software engineer related work
