I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Merck in Sep 2022
Interview
My interview was over Zoom. I gave a 45 minute seminar about my research with 15 minutes of questions. Subsequently, there were five 45 minute interviews with people from the team I would join and the broader department. They asked more technical questions about my research and some behavioral questions. There was also a 45 minute discussion with some of the younger people in the department where I had a chance to ask questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- What was time you had disagreed with a colleague and how did you overcome that? - What was a time you had to change plans quickly?
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Merck (Philadelphia, PA) in Jan 2022
Interview
First: HR Call Second: Two 1:1 calls with co-hiring and then hiring manager. And after qualifying these two, third round was scheduled. Third: Full day round of interviews with difference team members from the same location.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Merck
Interview
Multiple calls with HR and hiring manager followed by a full day of (virtual) interviews with the same questions over and over again, including a seminar. Standard SOP for any interview at this level. But what was pathetic was the lack of communication. Multiple people on the panel gave extremely positive feedback including the hiring manager who made it seem like an offer was coming soon. However, they completely ghosted me and didn't even have the decency to followup almost two months after I took a whole day to do this and prep/present a seminar. No respect whatsoever.
