I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Menards (Rockford, IL) in Aug 2015
Interview
They originally wanted me to work as a cashier. Based on my skill set they saw I was particularly good in computers and designing. They used that information to assess me as a cabinet designer and sales associate. They take time to listen and give you a position that they see fit. They ask you questions about your previous employment and you do need to take a drug test.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Menards (Bismarck, ND) in Jan 2014
Interview
Pretty basic, they are looking to see where you would fit well. If you appear to have any ability talking to people they will probably put you in sales. If you don't but look like you have some strength then you will probably be put in receiving. If you have neither they will probably make you a cashier.

Question 1
What was a previous job you worked? Have you ever worked in retail before?
It was really easy-going. They are a for-profit company so they want to know how you will help make money. They provided great training and everything was awesome. They value safety, passion for excellence and continuous improvement.
