applied via a recruiter, but it is also an open position. The salary range as I heard from the recruiter is extremely low, compared to foreign players in the same market. Because I am very passionate with its business, I would like to have a try even the job pays less than what I earned 6 years ago. Before the interviews because it’s public holiday, I created several demos about the relevant use cases for its business, and shared a deck via the application page.
The interview was with the director of data strategy. From what he described, the role was not so senior, you just need to solve the problem, but need to handle quite a few use case re-building in the same time. But fortunately these are topics that are very familiar to me, as I did all of them before. I mentioned to the director that I proactively built use cases for them, i said he knew that but did not read. He asked about my previous projects, not recent ones but those happened almost a decade ago. All the questions honestly had no technical depth. At the end of the interview I was asking if he would like to take a look at my demo, he said next time. But there was no next time, everything now sounds like typical Japanese Tatemae, after that i didn’t hear back from either him or the recruiter.
I guess the file is closed already. What a disappointment. I still don’t quite understand what I said was wrong that made him or HR avoid all the communications. No feedback, is not a decent closure.
