It was a quick phone screening.
The interviewer asked what I do in my current and most recent roles which are not in food industry. She didn't ask about the prior role that was most relevant to the job, and told me my experience doesn't fit. I explained that I had relevant experience before and that I am looking to go back to food industry as I feel like I can't progress much in my current role because of the industry not being a good match, but she still said it was not the right fit.
My work experience with company names were clearly indicated in my resume, so I don't understand why I was invited for an interview in the first place if that was not what they are looking for. I was very excited about this role and spent a lot of time and effort preparing for it, it is very disappointing that I was turned down like this.
Also worth mention that the interviewer said many candidates overlooked that it was a contract role although it was mentioned in job description, but I had the job description printed out and it wasn't mentioned anywhere. It is understandable that mistakes happen sometimes, but it is disrespectful to try to cover the mistake by implying it was the applicants' carelessness.
