My initial communication was facilitated by a military-to-civilian recruiting agency. After communicating initial interest, I was instructed to complete an application to the company through the site Taleo. After submitting my application to MSD, I was sent a link to an online skill assessment that covered basic problem solving, interaction, behavior, attention to detail, and ability to multitask. A few days later, my interview was set up and I was directed by a very clear e-mail correspondence to meet with one of my recruiters before heading over to wait in the lobby of the administrative building.
Interviews at this particular plant were "round-robin" style. Our group had four operators, so each applicant was interviewed for approximately 45 minutes by a different member of the leadership team, with similar questions that focused on specific goals and subject matter. Question formats followed the STAR (situation, task, action, result) method, and time was given for applicant to ask questions about the company to the interviewer.
After the interview, I was contacted by corporate HR and new employee administration with instructions for background check, initial urinalysis, and sent forms that required physical signature and e-mail back to HR. Notification of start date was received not long after my offer letter was returned.
