I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Salisbury, NC) in Apr 2008
Interview
Very Long and involved. Took multiple tries, even though there was an immediate need. Training is a Joke. Watch videos and take tests. At least a Dozen videos, and zero personal Training. No person to person training. Not even any training by suppliers. There used to be training, but that was cut to save money, and increase CEO bonus, I guess.

I applied online. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Saint Louis, MO) in Dec 2012
Interview
Applied for the job online and was called for an interview. The interview process includes three employees that ask a series of questions approximately 25 that are designed to determine how you did things in the past in relation to sales and customer service. ie Describe a time you went out of your way to help a customer. They asked you to do a sales presentation on your product. Lowes seems to be moving away from specialized sales to requring employees to be able to float to all departments. They wanted to know how versed you were in other area- plumbing, hardware, flooring, kitchen cabinets, ect. They have done away with all commissions, even on extended warranties. When asked about salary they said it was on a sliding scale of $13.75 - $19.00 an hour based on experience. My hunch is that they are looking at minimizing costs and are looking for people on the lower end of the scale.
