I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Fargo, ND) in Aug 2012
Interview
Was contacted by phone a couple weeks after I applied for the job. She was the HR Manager at the store I applied too in Fargo, ND. I was not available for a sit down interview at the time, so we scheduled a phone interview for later that week. The interview with the HR manager was personal and in my opinion wasn't hard. When have you had to go out of the way for a customer..., When did you have an argument with a co-worker..., When have you had to sell something.... Very normal questions. We then set up a time for me to do a phone interview with the store manager the next day. His questions were basically the same except for maybe 2. Both lasted no longer than 10 minutes. Was contacted 5 days later to take a drug screening (mouth swab). I then was offered the job 3 days later.
I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Zephyrhills, FL)
Interview
Rather easy interview process. There were only a handful of questions that were pretty standard for a retail position. When the interview was scheduled, I was told it was one person, but ended up being another person conducting the interview, which wasn't a big deal, but when you go in to the place it's nice to ask for the correct person.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
When was a time that you've gone above and beyond for a customer?
It was Easy and I was able to get the job done. It was a good experience and I had a great time. Questions asked were about my experience with home improvement.
Pretty easy interview. Basic questions about work history. What experience you have pertaining to the role. A few scenario questions about customer interaction and teamwork. Pretty much show confidence you can handle the job.
