I was called by a staffing agent who told me there would be a call, however by positive referral, that was skipped and I met in the downtown office for an interview. First, I met with my soon-to-be direct supervisor and another woman from the department. A third woman was phoned in as she is remote. The head of the department was very sick and could not be there. I was asked a series of very candid questions. I appreciated the candor and honesty of the ladies, and I was able to relate and connect to them. They also asked me some more fun, personal questions about my life as a freelancer and what I liked to do. It was very refreshing to be in a room where honest, intelligent, and innovative conversation was acceptable and encouraged. After the interview, I offered to show them some examples of my previous work, and they amicably agreed, leading me to the cubicle area in which they worked. They brought over some more staff from the department to introduce me and to check out my work. They were all friendly, accepting, and personable. I felt welcomed and at home. They spoke to me in a way that showed I fit and made me feel as though I was already part of the team. They are respectful people who are non-discriminatory and treat you as an equal regardless of age and qualification.
