I interviewed for a MBSE role. From the start, I felt as though they were trying to push me to another role (nothing specified) since they kept asking if I was interested in a different location. The two panel members were pleasant, but they asked extremely high level questions, but it’s apparent from my resume that I am early career. I was asked almost nothing about my background and no questions related to MBSE. For the questions they did ask, they did not relate to my past experience expressed on my resume (which I know they had in front of them because they mentioned some small details from it) and it was for situations a much more senior systems engineer would normally be in. Typically, the panel would tell you more about the role itself at the beginning of the interview, but the role was never mentioned, so I almost believed I was being interviewed for the wrong position. Towards the end of the interview, they revealed that people who fill this role (where they finally mentioned the MBSE role I applied for) typically have twenty plus years experience, so I’m unsure as to why they interviewed me to begin with and asked questions that a much more experienced systems engineer would perhaps know. They were nothing like the questions I’ve been asked in several other interviews. I would have rather they be more transparent from the beginning of the interview. Again, they were pleasant, but the experience was extremely awkward and left a bad taste in my mouth.
