I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kroger (Fayetteville, GA) in Feb 2014
Interview
I applied online about two months ago and they called for an initial interview 3 weeks ago. The first initial interview was a few questions over the phone to clarify information and just a few simple things, example being "are you still interested in working for Kroger?" After that interview I was invited to come into the store to do a face-to-face interview with a manager of the store the next week. Went in early, and the interview lasted about 5 minutes overall. Literally no questions were asked, but the application was reviewed and had a small conversation. Was actually forced to ask questions instead of being asked myself. Was basically hired after being asked when I would like to start, then told that their HR manager/secretary would give me a call in order to set up a drug test time. Exactly a week later I get a call back, from the same store but from a different number, the HR manager/secretary said that my drug test had come back clean (even though I was never contacted beforehand to go take one) and that they were doing a background check and waiting for it to come back.

Question 1
Most companies ask you "why do you want to work for ____?" I was asked "What can Kroger do for you?" So just be prepared for a mix up of questioning.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Kroger (Cincinnati, OH) in Aug 2012
Interview
The easiest interview I've ever had in my life. The HR asked me what my my name was, if I knew what my position meant as far as my responsibilities as a courtesy clerk, if I was interested in moving up from a courtesy clerk position, and when I could start. From there, she scheduled my drug test and my first day of work. It literally took me 2 days of working to go from a bagger to a cashier and maybe 3 months to go from a cashier to a self-checkout attendant. It took me about 6 months to be considered for a manager position but I had to reject it because I was moving to another town.

Question 1
There were literally no difficult questions. It was the easiest, most honest interview I've ever had. Maybe if I was going for a higher position there would've been more difficult questions.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Kroger (Franklin, TN) in Jan 2014
Interview
Applied online, was called the next day. Had two interviews: Human Resource and Co-manager. Everything went well, was hired pretty much on the spot. The only problem was, I was told I would get paid $8.15 per hr, but ended up with $7.85. Something to do with the union, because I had a lapse in work history when I was unemployed.? Took all of the computer tests that they required, then was turned loose in the store.

Question 1
The difference in pay. I was told I would be paid the higher wage because of my experience. Asked people who worked for other unions, said they never heard of anything like that. Unions are usually there for you instead of against you. So why???
