Taxing, a little time consuming but not that bad once you get through it, you have to remain patient and willing to answer their questions as effectually as possible, it isn’t bad once you get comfortable in the environment.
I applied online. I interviewed at Kroger (Houston, TX) in Dec 2018
Interview
Very good interview with the hr I enjoy the job and been working for Kroger for 3 years. I got hired immediately and I get good hours. Good company to work for very good benefits.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Kroger in Apr 2021
Interview
Quite possibly the worst interview experience I've ever had.
I was peppered with coding and SQL trivia-type questions for an hour. Very academic style questions as well, I got the feeling they wanted a walking textbook, not a coder.
I noticed the interviewer was looking for me to say specific keywords or phrases in my answers, even if I explained the answer correctly without them. If I didn't say the keyword/phrase, he would press me again until he heard what he was looking for and could check it off his list.
At one point, one of the interviews insulted me, whether she meant to or not, I'm not sure. I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt but her personality wasn't the best.
About halfway through the interview, I realized that I had no interest in working with these people.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.
